What netweir.com and docs.netweir.com collect, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed.
In effect from 28 October 2026.
Netweir is run by James Conway, an individual in Colorado, United States ("we", "us"). This policy covers the websites netweir.com and docs.netweir.com and the email you send us. Questions or requests about your data go to [email protected].
The short version
- The Netweir library collects nothing about you and sends nothing to us.
- The websites keep no accounts and sell nothing, and we never sell or rent personal data.
- Google Analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies, and you can change your mind at any time.
- If you use the licence form or email us, we keep what you send so we can answer it.
The Netweir library
Netweir, the software you install with pip, has no telemetry. It doesn't report usage, errors or anything else to us. It talks only to the sites you point it at, to Google when you run netweir install chrome (to download Chrome for Testing), and to Anthropic when you call netweir.llm with your own API key. What those parties do with that traffic is governed by their own terms, not this policy.
When you visit the websites
The sites are hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request to deliver them and to protect the sites from abuse. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. Cloudflare may set cookies that its security features need to work.
Google Analytics runs only after you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner. It then sets cookies (named_ga and _ga_…) and tells Google which pages you viewed, roughly where you are, and what device and browser you use, so we can see which documentation people read. If you choose "Decline", or make no choice, Google Analytics doesn't load. Your choice is kept in your own browser, and you can change it with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Google keeps the data for the retention period set in our account, at most 14 months.
When you contact us
The licence form asks for your name, email address, company (optional) and message. We use them only to answer you and, if it comes to it, to arrange a licence. To keep spam out, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the form is filled in by a person, and your IP address is used to limit how many messages one address can send in ten minutes; that count is forgotten after ten minutes. The message, with your IP address, is delivered to our inbox by Resend, an email delivery service.
Email you send to an @netweir.com address is forwarded by Cloudflare to our mailbox. We keep messages for as long as we need them to answer you and for any agreement that follows, then delete them. We don't add you to a mailing list.
Issues, discussions and pull requests on GitHub, and Netweir's page on PyPI, are covered by GitHub's and PyPI's own privacy policies.
Who else sees your data
Only the services named above, each acting for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security, analytics, Turnstile and email forwarding), Google (Analytics, only with your consent) and Resend (delivering the licence form). They're based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. We share data with anyone else only if the law requires it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask for a copy. Email [email protected] and we'll answer within 30 days. We don't sell personal data, use it for targeted advertising, or make decisions about you by automated means, so there's nothing to opt out of there.
If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on your consent for Google Analytics, and on our legitimate interests for keeping the sites secure and answering messages you send us. You can withdraw consent at any time from "Cookie settings", and you can complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The sites are for developers and aren't directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change what we collect or who sees it, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and say what changed.
